Amazon Kindle 3 Video Review

by Ted Mcgrath on 2011/07/16

A video review of the Amazon Kindle 3 ebook reader. You can read our full written review on our website: www.mobiletechreview.com . This is Amazon's newest 6" eReader and it features a high contrast Pearl e-Ink display that's much more readable under low light. The 3rd gen Kindle is also significantly smaller and lighter than the Kindle 2. It now has a web-kit web browser, improved PDF handling and it's available in two version: one with WiFi and one with WiFi + 3G. We compare it with B&N nook, the kobo reader and the Kindle DX Graphite.

I have an iPhone 4, which reads books just as well. The screen may be smaller, but it has a tonne of more features. Also, I actually prefer having a “true” book with pages; it just feels much more natural.

Im kind of a actual book person. I enjoy having an actual book in my hand and writing side notes to things especially for school, but im kinda looking into the kindle. I dont know if I will like it. Can u type like little foot notes and stuff? Is it worth it/Should I get it?

@jenny61599 there’s an ipad for that. kindles are for relaxing and reading :) the web browser isn’t technically stable so it shouldn’t be used as a primary source of internet browsing

melthrills July 17, 2011 at 2:00 am

@Nightwolf9SS im pretty sure it’s any

AbuGrabIt July 17, 2011 at 2:50 am

@Bililz “Your are…” and you call me retarded?

Nightwolf9SS July 17, 2011 at 3:20 am

Can you surf any web-page with kindle 3? or just wikipedia and the ones in the bookmark.

unlokia July 17, 2011 at 3:40 am

I would absolutely LOVE one of these. I love reading, but I never seem to be able to persuade my stubborn self to get into a book, EVEN THOUGH I know I will be carried away and relaxed, when I do.

I’ve tried reading on an iPad, and as much as I LOVE iPad, reading e-books on backlit screens is a total disaster, and bound to cause eye strain.

I have a Kindle 3 here, which my friend gave me to look at… but the screen is cracked, and it doesn’t work. However, actually seeing e-ink, sells it!

@melthrills aww, bless you! :-)

1msharrypotterfan July 17, 2011 at 6:45 am

So you can put PDF and mobi files on a kindle 3?

Bililz July 17, 2011 at 7:35 am

@AbuGrabIt
Wow.
Your are really retarded?
It’s actually a new technology called E-INK; yeh it’s really high tech.
Due to it preventing eye fatigue and problems that LCD display causes.
