As we already know we are in the midst of one of the largest credit crisis's in decades, one of the worst affected sectors has been the overseas travel industry and things do not look like they are going to be getting better any time soon.
More and more British folk are still holidaying in the UK abandoning overseas destinations and this could lead to a bout of super cheap holidays in the Summer of 2009. People are cutting back a huge amount, because they know that the pound has become very weak compared to other currencies.
But things are not all negative because All inclusive package trips have actually taken a huge rise in bookings as folk look to lower their costs, especially to countries such as Turkey and Egypt. Looking from another point of view self catering accommodation is still down a big amount in countries such as Greece, Spain, Portugal, the Canaries and the Algarve, so you could actually look at booking a cheap holiday this summer as people lower their costs to get hotel rooms full up.
Again things are not all bad, because huge amounts of money are being pumped back into the UK economy, with caravan and UK family holidays being booked up in the dozen. Some places have even run out of spaces.
Although costs are still currently minimal for late overseas destination bookings, authorities warn that "The consumer that books late is taking a gamble that flight prices to the Western Med will remain low but there is a risk that these seat prices will sky rocket in June."
So if you are actually looking to take a break this summer time then I would look at booking it soon as prices could potentially rise in an instant.
Great bowls holidays and dancing holidays
